Starting May 18, 2026 until July 27, 2026, the end of Tenreuken Street will be closed to vehicle traffic for entering Charle-Albert Avenue. However, access to our establishment remains very simple:
✅ Recommended route by car: take Boulevard du Souverain, then turn onto Avenue Charle-Albert — you arrive directly to Au Repos des Chasseurs
✅ On foot or by bike: no change, you can still come through Tenreukenlaan as usual.
A detour sign is set up by the Denys company to guide drivers to Au Repos des Chasseurs.
⚠ We will keep you informed throughout the project by updating the access plan to Au repos des Chasseurs
What is a buffer basin?
A buffer basin (or stormwater basin) is a large underground reservoir that temporarily collects rainwater during heavy downpours. Rather than overloading the sewer system, water is stored and then released gradually once the storm has passed.
The Ten Reuken buffer basin will have a capacity of 5,000 m³ and will be entirely underground. Once works are completed, the site will return to its original appearance — with no visible trace at the surface.
Why here, at Tenreuken ?
The Woluwe valley is particularly prone to flooding. Several buffer basins already exist in the area, but a recent hydraulic study identified two remaining critical points: the Tenreuken pond and the Woluwedal tunnel.
This new basin will :
🛡️ Durably protect local homes and businesses from flooding.
🌿 Preserve the environment by limiting untreated wastewater discharges into nature.
💧 Secure stormwater management for the decades to come.
The project owner is HYDRIA, the Brussels public water operator. Works are carried out by DENYS (Ghent).
